No Postseason Berth For Panther Men

www.UWMPanthers.com · March 15, 2010 01:09AM

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s men’s basketball season has come to a close after it was not invited to either the College Insider Tournament or College Basketball Invitational. An invitation to either event would have been UWM’s fifth Division I postseason berth and ninth postseason appearance in all divisions. The Panthers (20-14) have now wrapped up the 10th 20-win season in 113 years of basketball, with the 20 wins tied for the sixth-most in school history. UWM did have in-depth discussions with organizers of the College Insider Tournament, but no geographical rival wound up in the field of 16 teams. The nearest opponents the Panthers could have faced – home or away – were Creighton, Missouri State, Marshall or South Dakota, all of which are located more than 500 miles from Milwaukee. South Dakota earned an automatic berth into the tournament by winning the Great West Conference.
