Horizon League student-athletes once again demonstrated their commitment to community service as members from the League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered their time with children from Forest Manor Multi-Service Center.

Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2010 Spring Academic All-League Teams on Monday (Aug. 2).

In recognition of success in the classroom by its participants, the Horizon League honored 729 student-athletes on Tuesday (July 27) as members of the 2010 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Milwaukee junior Cole Kraft has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week while Wright State senior Alex Kaminsky garners Pitcher of the Week honors for the period of May 10-16.

The Wright State baseball team clinched the Horizon League regular-season title with a sweep of Youngstown State in the home finale Sunday at Nischwitz Stadium, rallying for a 4-3 victory in the first game before holding on to win 9-8 in the nightcap.

That's the situation facing both the remaining teams in the 2010 Horizon League Baseball Championship, as #2 Milwaukee was able to stave off elimination Saturday afternoon in defeating #1 Wright State, 14-7.

Day three of the 2010 Horizon League Baseball Championship is undoubtedly the most intriguing afternoon and evening of the four-day (or possibly five-day) event. The day begins with five teams — three facing elimination, and two looking for the quickest path to the championship game. It's a showcase of the best the League has to offer.
